The 2011 'San Andreas Fault’ is a well defined and focused Pinot Noir. The fruit comes from 27 distinct farming blocks within Hirsch Vineyard. This was the second vintage produced by Hirsch's new winemaker Ross Cobb and it is drop-dead gorgeous. Bright and remarkably fresh with raspberry and red berries followed by blood orange, exotic spice and spring flowers which leap from the glass. This shows wonderful balance and attacks the palate with great freshness and vibrant acidity. The finish is long and elegant. A beautiful Pinot Noir that will only continue to evolve over the next decade. (Best 2015-2025) - March, 2014 (MD)
