The 2019 Syrah from Cote Bonneville is just a joy to drink. Deep purple/inky in color, it showed off some great aromas, notably dark berries, and smoked meat. With a velvety mouthfeel, plush and plentiful tannins, and the ability to shift gears seamlessly, this wine has a great array of delectable flavors. On the palate, concentrated tart blueberry, blackberry, charred fennel, and peppered teriyaki beef jerky all came together nicely. This is a classy, smooth, and weightless effort, with a bend towards an old-world style. The 45-second finish was delightful and elegant. This wine is approachable now and should have another 15 years of good drinking ahead of it.
