Another stunning GMS blend from the winemaker Chris Petersen, this one checks in with 60% Grenache, 23% Mourvedre, and 17% Syrah and is aged for 16 months in neutral French oak barrels and is bottled unfined and unfiltered. Light to medium neon ruby in the glass, with a watery rim, the nose is a bit shy to start. But after 5 minutes of air, be ready for lovely aromatics of candied red cherry, spiced red plum, dried poultry herbs, toasted black peppercorn, whole clove, crushed Spanish olives, and a hint of dried charcuterie. Crunchy tannins, lemony acidity, and a structured core deliver a very young wine that will be much better in 2024 or 2025. 320 cases made.
