The 2012 Big Basin Grenache from the Coastview Vineyard is a fantastic effort. The final blend was 95% Grenache and 5% Syrah, and was aged in neutral oak barrels. It is showing plenty of black and blue fruits, kirsch, with an underbrush of peppery spices, black olive and violet nuances. This hits the palate with lots of front-end spice and full-bodied richness, followed by rock-solid mid-palate, great depth and a velvety finish. Drinking well now, but will improve even more with some bottle age. (Best 2015-2025) - June, 2015 (MD)
