Currently displaying medium to heavy oak presence, the wine begins with aromatics reminiscent of cured meats, creosote, black cherry and milk chocolate shavings. The palate is full-bodied considering the varietal, really capturing the heat of the vintage and yielding flavors of red cherry, cigar box, pipe tobacco, leather and hints of orange rind. This combines the earthy and red fruity elements quite nicely. Considering the mid-palate weight, light tannins and the lively acidity, I can see this wine cellaring beautifully for at least 5-8 years. (Best 2017-2025) - January, 2017 (OB)
