COLUMBIA CREST Red Wine 'Walter Clore Reserve' 2013

The 2013 Columbia Crest 'Walter Clore Reserve' is an exceedingly well made wine from this estate, and amongst the best 'Walter Clore' wines that I have tasted in the past decade. The wine is a compelling blend of 64% Merlot, 34% Cabernet with the remainder Cab Franc and Malbec. This impressive red blend begins with aromas of ripe black cherries, raisins, baking spices, and black olives all taking shape in the glass. The palate has dense, concentrated flavors of blackberry pie, black cherries, black olive and mocha. This continues to impress with its layered texture and remarkable balance, along with a gorgeous seamless quality, which reminds me of the rich, yet elegant 2004 bottling. (Best 2016-2026) - November, 2016 (OB)
