2015 TOP 100 WINES | Rank #78
The 2012 Gramercy Cellars ‘The Deuce’ Syrah is blended from two sources in the Walla Walla Valley and sees 100% French oak with only 14% new. It displays a deep, glass staining purple color followed by aromas of smoked meats, bacon fat, black plum, blackberries and a black tea character. On the palate this is well structured and lithe with rich viscosity and delicious flavors of crème de cassis, blackberry, anise, black cherry and crushed stones. This has an intriguing combination of being a rich, yet mineral driven wine. An absolutely sensational effort that is already showing extremely well, but should also continue to evolve gracefully over the course of the next decade. One of the best of its kind.
