SECRET SQUIRREL Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley 2018

A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot, and 2% Merlot make up the 2018 Cabernet from Secret Squirrel. It’s aged in French oak for 22 months and is an exceptional value at a $25 price point. It drinks like a Cabernet that costs twice as much, and it’s still young and vibrant after 5 years of age. I don’t really understand how the team at Corliss makes money on this wine, but I’m not complaining! Crushed black cherries, purple potpourri, wet autumn leaves, cassis, grated cloves, and melted milk chocolate pop on the nose and on the palate. Bitter herbs and dark fruit fall on the finish. Believe it or not, it’s still a baby and will only get better with a few years of bottle age. Editor’s Choice.
