RIDGE VINEYARDS 'Monte Bello' 2014

The 2014 Monte Bello is another absolute beauty to add to the long list of monumental wines from Ridge. Composed of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot this begins with seductive aromas of blackberries and dark cherries woven together with graphite, spring florals along with hints of sweet spice and a touch of roasted coffee all taking shape. This is full-bodied, but beautifully poised, with outstanding overall balance and structure. This continues to impress with its gorgeous polished texture and layers of concentrated dark fruits which expand on to the long finish. While this is already showing plenty of early appeal, I expect this will live up to its reputation as one of Californias most age-worthy wines. (Best 2021-2038) - December, 2017 (JD)
