The Del Rio Vineyard is located in Alexander Valley, it is one of the steepest hillside vineyards at the top of Chalk Hill Road, and consists of well-drained volcanic soils. Winemaker Jesse Katz has crafted a majestic wine from this vineyard that displays a remarkable combination of both power and harmony. This Cabernet Sauvignon instantly impresses with its opaque dark inky color, which is followed by intense and remarkably complex aromatics of ripe blueberries, crème de cassis, crushed violets, baking spices, graphite powder, dark chocolate, espresso, dried bay leafs and hints of dried loam all soaring from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied and powerful, with a a big voluptuous mouthfeel. While it is massive and intense, it is also totally harmonious, as the dense core of concentrated sweet dark fruits expands seamlessly all the way through the long, multi-tiered finish. Certainly not holding back any punches, this is fully expressive and utterly decadent now, yet also possesses the potential to age for years to come.
