The 2012 Pedregal Vineyard Cabernet is a simply outstanding wine from David Ramey. It is composed of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon (Clone 7) planted on St. George and 110R rootstock and 11% Petit Verdot which is Sterling selection planted on 110R rootstock. The wine itself is absolutely fabulous, offering seductive aromas of black cherries, cassis and huckleberry layered with graphite, violets, sweet spices and hints of mocha all emerging from the glass. This possesses a full, voluptuous body, supported by round, polished tannins which are beautifully integrated. It continues to impress with its remarkable depth and concentration all the way through the long, multi-layered finish. This is absolutely delicious today, but I expect it to continue to evolve gracefully for years to come. David Ramey’s Pedregal Cabernet is one of Napa Valleys crown jewels and this 2012 is another incredible showing. (Best 2017-2032) - February, 2016 (JD)
