The 2015 ‘Sandy’s’ Pinot Noir is one of the most impressive wines from Melville in this vintage. Planted on the sandy northwest section of Melville’s east vineyard, this block includes selections from Merry Edwards, Calera (Clone 90), and clones 459 and 114. As this opens it offers releases classic aromatics red cherries, red raspberries, black truffle oil and crushed mint all taking shape in the glass. This shows a refined edge, with bright red fruits and orange rind that connect to a wonderful saline streak as this displays wonderful structure considering the warm vintage. Lithe and delicious, this should continue to drink well over the course of the next decade. (Best 2017-2028) - August, 2017 (OB)
