This Châteauneuf-du-Pape is made from predominantly Grenache with the addition of Syrah and Mourvèdre from parcels in Le Coteau de l’Ange, La Nerthe, Le Moulin à vent and Les Terres Blanches, where a large number of parcels have clay and limestone soils, with worn pebbles or sand, and vines 40-years-old on average. It opens to aromas of cherries and roasted plum with spices, white pepper, black truffle and dusty leather. On the palate this offers a beautiful soft, silky texture with wonderful balance and finesse. The is a lovely inner sweetness at its core which continues on through the finish. This is quite accessible now, but should also continue to age well over the next decade. (Best 2017-2027) - December, 2016 (JD)
