BODEGA CONTADOR Rioja 'Que Bonita Cacareaba' 2011

The 2011 Bodega Contador 'Que Bonita Cacareaba' Blanco is an opulent release from Benjamin Romeo. This wine is a blend of 73% Garnacha Blanca, 15% Malvasia and 12% Viura which was sourced from a blend of calcareous and alluvial soil vineyards. The grapes were whole cluster fermented and then aged on the lees for eight months in new French oak barrels. Having a dark, Golden hue, the wine starts with aromatics of brioche, ripe apricots, Meyer lemon oil, toasted macadamia nuts and baked Pazzaz Apple. This leads to flavors of orange blossom, pink grapefruit, starfruit, Japanese pear and white peach. The texture is voluptuous, which culminates with an exceedingly long finish. A wonderful effort from Benjamin Romeo for doing his own thing and producing this outstanding project.(Best 2016-2026) - April, 2016 (OB)
