Quinta do Vale Meão is situated in the upper reaches of the Douro and is among the leaders in Port and Table reds from the region. The 2011 Vintage Port is composed mainly from Touriga Franca and Touriga Naçional along with Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz and Sousão and a few other varietals rounding out the blend. It displays a deep inky color with notes of blackberry and cherry reduction followed by raisin, spices, violets, minerals and hints of chocolate, which all slowly come together beautifully in the glass. It shows impressive depth and concentration while remaining nicely balanced all the way through the delicious finish. This is a fantastic effort from an epic vintage in the Douro, and even at this youthful age is already showing some lovely qualities and is sure to evolve gracefully for many years to come.
