The 2011 ‘Harmonium’ is 100% Nero d’Avola, which comes from 3 separate crus within the 165 hectare Borgo Guarini Estate; Ferla, Lepre and Beccaccia each having their own unique terroir. The wine itself delivers a mix of fresh, savory and sweet aromas that consist of dark cherries and ripe blackberries, which are layered with sweet spices, cocoa powder, warm toasty notes and a briary chracter. The dark fruits carry over onto the Full body, where a burst of acidity gives this a sense of freshness. This remains nicely balanced all the way through the finish where even more dark fruits, spices and toasted notes continue linger. Today this seems as if it’s still another year or two away from hitting its stride, I would recommend allowing this just another couple years of bottle age before it will begin to show its best.
