CASTELLO DI FONTERUTOLI 'Siepi' 2013

The 2013 ‘Siepi’ is a drop-dead gorgeous blend of equal parts Sangiovese and Merlot. As this slowly begins to unwind it releases seductive aromas of black cherries and cassis woven together with sweet exotic spices, pencil shavings and floral along with hints of tobacco and toasty nuances. On the palate this is simply incredible as this impresses with its full body which is beautifully structured and demonstrates remarkable depth and complex range of flavors which continue to expand through the finish. Overall, this impresses on all levels and even at this early stage it is already extreamly appealing, however it does require extended air contact to fully begin to express itself, nonetheless this is an age-worthy wine which has the makeup to evolve for years in the cellar. (Best 2019-2032) - March, 2017 (JD)
