The 2014 Etna Rosso ’Prephylloxera’ is a drop-dead gorgeous wine from Marco de Grazia. This is composed of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio that is sourced from two small parcels, which have survived phylloxera and therefore, are over 130 years old and stand on their original rootstock. The wine itself is all about elegance and finesse, as it releases gorgeous aromas of sweet red fruits, fresh cut floral, exotic spices, minerals with underlying hints of dried tarragon and tangerine zest, all coming together seamlessly in the glass. On the palate this is beautifully structured, demonstrating remarkable overall balance and focus. The finish is beautifully finessed, yet shows tremendous length. While this is already extremely appealing, it will certainly continue to evolve gracefully with time. (Best 2018-2030) - August, 2016 (JD)
