The 2011 ‘La Fenice’ Barolo is a solid effort, sourced form Pugnate and Bussia where the soils are morainal with a mixture of dark clays and whiteish sandy marls. As this begins to open it displays notes of cherries and red fruits woven together with spices, pepper, licorice and a touch of cedar. On the palate it is firmly structured, with fine tannins, which grip hold and turn chewy on the finish. (Best 2015-2023) - August, 2015 (JD)
