The Barolo Riserva from Renato Corino is made from a special section of the oldest vines in the Rocche cru. The 2009 is an immense Nebbiolo, made in a modern style which reaches an alcohol content of 15%. It displays a exceptionally dark color for Nebbiolo, followed by gorgeous fresh aromas of dark cherries, blackberries, fresh violets and licorice along with some dried mediterranean herbs and minerals. On this palate this is full-bodied and possesses wonderful depth backed by fine, polished tannins, which burst onto the long, juicy finish. Today, this is a Nebbiolo with tremendous power and depth, but it will certainly be interesting to see this evolve over time. (Best 2016-2032) - August, 2015 (JD)
