The 2014 La Calende Barolo is a wonderful suprise in the vintage. It begins with aromas of sliced strawberries and cherries, fresh cut florals, tar, spices and wet stones which all taking shape. On the palate this possesses a medium body with fine tannins which are backed by a lovely touch of acidity which frames the mineral-laced finish. This should drink beautifully over the course of the next decade, but plan on allowing this another year or two of bottle age to flesh out.
