The 2011 Caparzo Riserva is an absolutely thrilling wine which instantly opens with alluring aromas and flavors of blackberries, plums and dark cherries woven together with sweet spices, hazelnut, pretty florals and underlying hints of fresh tarragon. On the palte this is full-bodied, round and velvety with excellent structure and remarkable overall balance and depth. It contines to impress as it expands seamlessly, adding in gorgeous nuanced flavors of chocolate and zesty notes, which linger on the long finish. This is a complete sucesss from Caparzo in this vintage and will cellar beautifully over the next decade and even beyond. (Best 2028-2034) - March, 2017 (JD)
