The 2011 La Gerla Brunello di Montalcino is an excellent showing. A traditional style Brunello which slowly begins to take shape it releases aromas of blackberries and dried cherries which take on sweet spices, leather, licorice and a slight earthy character. Medium-bodied, refined and well structured with fine, silky tannins and a long lingering finish. This is already displaying some wonderful characteristics, but allow this just a bit more bottle age for it to hit full stride. (Best 2017-2027) - February, 2016 (JD)
