The 2013 'La Casa' Brunello di Montalcino is an absolutely stunning wine from Caparzo. This fabulous single vineyard Brunello is sourced from the tiny 5-hectare La Casa Vineyard located on the Montosoli Hill and spends a year in 500L French oak tonneaux, followed by 24 months in 30HL French oak casks. The result is a stunning Brunello which begins with wonderful aromatics of dried cherries and red berries which are laced with smoke, tobacco, leather, exotic spices, wild flowers with some underlying mineral nuances. On the palate this is medium to full-bodied and beautifully structured with excellent depth and focus. It goes on to display remarkable balance through the long, graceful finish. While nothing short of exceptional, the 2013 will require a few years in bottle before it begins to hit its stride, that being said, the future looks to be extreamly promising for this stunning Brunello.
