The 2015 Dürkheimer Spielberg Riesling from Karl Schaefer is a simply magnificent showing in this outstanding vintage. This dry to slightly off-dry style Riesling instantly dazzles with pretty aromas of lime, lychee and nectarine, along with green tea, white floral blossom, saline minerals and hints of flinty notes. On the plate this is simply divine, as it demonstrates remarkable elegance with a gorgeous texture and excellent overall balance and focus. Everything comes together beautifully on the finish as the fresh flavors combine with salty nuances. This is already showing extreamly well, but I expect it to continue to impress over the next decade. (Best 2016-2024) - October, 2016 (JD)
