Rebholz has a 22 hectacre estate that is bio-dynamically farmed and has a production of roughly 10,000 cases. This Riesling comes from the Kastanienbusch vineyard, which relies on red slate soils. This weighs in at 13.5% alcohol, somewhat higher than many other Kabinette bottlings that I have sampled this year. The wine begins with aromas of Gravenstein apple, pear and wet stone. This leads to flavors of Granny Smith apple, slate, lemon/lime and a strong mineral backbone. This is lithe and delicious wine that would pair brilliantly with shellfish and represents wonderful value out of Pfalz. Only 200 cases produced. (Best 2015-2022) - November, 2015 (OB)
