The 2014 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is another sensational release from Château Sixtine, which is run by the Diffonty family. Composed of 50% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre and 25% Syrah, this opens to beautiful aromas of raspberries, kirsch cherries and traces of red plums, which are laced with white pepper, spices and a touch of lavender all coming together in this elegant wine. On the palate this is beautifully structured with notable depth and gorgeous velvety tannins that make for a wonderful mouthfeel, which leads into the long finish that leaves behind cherry and spice flavors lingering. While this classy Châteauneuf-du-Pape is already quite appealing, it is only a offering a preview what is to come as it will continue to evolve gracefully over the next decade.
