The 2013 L’Ange Châteauneuf-du-Pape 'Vieilles Vignes' is sourced from 80-year old vines, from the hillside lieu-dit named “Coteaux de l’ange”. It slowly opens to pretty aromas of red berries, cherry, dried herb, plum, spice, wet stones and hints of floral. On the palate this is an elegant, medium-plus bodied red that is beautifully structured with fine, silky tannins and great overall balance and finesse, backed by lovely underlying acidity. This is already quite appealing, and should continue to evolve over the course of the next decade. (Best 2018-2028) - March, 2017 (JD)
