The 2014 Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Domaine André Mathieu' is made from vines averaging sixty-five years old, and made with Grenache and Mourvèdre with a smaller percentage of the other eleven permissible varietals of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. As this opens it delivers aromas of ripe black raspberries and roasted plums, which are woven together with spices, floral and hints of herbs and smoke. This medium-bodied red possesses a silky texture with notes of black raspberries and plums expanding onto the finish. A lovely effort in this vintage from André Mathieu.
