A fantastic showing in 2012 is the ‘Cuvée Alex’ from Domaine Mayard. This instantly opens with lovely aromas of dark plums and blackberries, which lend to a gorgeous fresh character followed by wild herbs and chocolate-licorice twist. This is impressive for its remarkable balance and beautiful soft, velvety texture that is seamless through the long finish. A superb effort and a pleasure to drink even at this youthful age.
