Absolutely thrilling in 2012 is the 'Barbe Rac' from M. Chapoutier. This fsntastic wine begins with wonderful aromas of roasted plum, dark cherries, licorice, lavender, chocolate, graphite and wet stones which all come together beautifully in the glass. This possesses a medium to full body with gorgeous textural richness. It continues to impress with its outstanding overall balance and finesse, and soft, round texture that shows no hard edges whatsoever. The finish is long and caressing, leaving behind some gentle spice notes and hints of graphite. The 2012 ' Barbe Rac' is a clear standout in this vintage. (Best 2017-2030) - November, 2014 (JD)
