The 2012 'Secrets de Pignan' is an absolutely brilliant effort from Eric Bonnet at La Bastide Saint Dominique. This stunning 100% Grenache delivers aromas of ripe raspberries, dark plums, pie crust, spices, lavender, chocolate and crushed stones which all come together and leap from the glass. This possesses full body backed by a beautiful velvety texture, which is well balanced and driven by gorgeous underlying acidity. It continues to impress through the long finish where continues to build layer upon layer of complex flavors with remarkable finesse. This is one of the most compelling wines I have tasted from the vintage and although it's incredible today, it will only continue age gracefully. (Best 2015-2027) - November, 2014 (JD)
