The 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Leplan-Vermeersch is a gorgeous showing, Impressive for its wonderful pure character and fresh aromas of raspberries and ripe blackberries, followed by smoke, licorice, and spices. On the palate it is richly textured, backed by round tannins and a wonderful velvety mouth feel. The finish is long and silky, folding in sweet fruits and spices, which leave a lasting impression.
