The 2012 'Cuvée Alexis Establet' is composed of 100% Grenache from 100-year-old vines planted in an area known as the 'La Gardiole' at the northernmost point of the appellation. The wine itself is made in a classic style and opens up with aromas of dark raspberry compote, plums, garrigue and minerals before slowly adding in some chocolate notes and a black olive character. This delivers a medium-full body with fine tannins which are firmly structured around a racy core. Today, the wine is still at a primal stage, so just allowing this extended air contact alone is not enough, this will require several years of age before it should even be considered, that being said this has plenty of potential and a bright future ahead.
