The 2011 L’Ange Châteauneuf-du-Pape ‘Vieilles Vignes’ is composed of 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault from 80-year old vines, most of these vines can be found on a hillside lieu-dit named “Coteaux de l’ange”. The wine delivers fantastic aromas and flavors of dark berry fruits, plum, pepper, licorice and savory roasted notes. It’s balanced, structured and layered with a wonderful silky texture that glides effortlessly into the finish where dark cherries, mineral and iron notes linger. Give it just a bit more time in bottle to flesh out. (Best 2015-2024) - June, 2014 (JD)
