The 2014 Domaine Millet-Roger Sancerre comes from soils consisting of 80% limestone-clay and 20% Kimmeridgian marl and limestone here is some of the most compact and concentrated of the appellation. The 2014 is lively and fresh, offering up a stunning and very vibrant nose of grapefruit, tart orange, stoney minerality, herbs, peach and white flowers. On the palate the wine is pure, with lots of citrus and a racy core of acidity. This is focused through the palate into the long finish. As always, this is an impressive example of Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc. A perfect spring and summer wine that will impress most. Drink now or over then next few years.
