The 2006 Cornas from Auguste Clap is a simply dazzling showing as it opens with striking aromas of black raspberries and plum woven together with smoke, bacon, violets, white pepper and citrus zest notes all taking shape to form the seductive aromas. On the palate this impresses with its remarkable overall balance and finesse as well as its beautifully structured frame backed by gorgeous underlying acidity leading into the finish. This is an absolutely sensational showing that is only entering its optimal drinking window, and while it is already utterly compelling, it also has a long future ahead.
