This dense, ripe Cabernet Franc comes from clay/limestone soils derived from a chalky bedrock known locally as tuffeau, and the minerality from the terroir resonates beautifully through the entire wine. This instantly opens in intense aromas of beautifully ripened black raspberries and black cherries woven together with black olive, violets, mesquite, smoke, leather and a dash of pepper. On the palate this is beautifully concentrated and well structured with a mineral driven core ending with a long lingering finish. Today this is already completely open and offering so much, however I expect this to continue to hold up and show well for years to come. (Best 2016-2026) - July, 2016 (JD)
