The 2014 ‘Les vieux Ceps de Raymond’ is a spectacular showing from Domaine Fond Croze. It instantly opens with alluring aromas of blackberries and blueberries woven together with violets, spices and smoldering ash. On the palate this is full-bodied, balanced and beautifully concentrated with dark fruits, smoke and spices continuing to leave an impression. The velvety tannins are backed by a lovely layer of underlying acidity, which adds a fresh character as it heads into the finish. This is showing fantastic right now, but I expect it will continue to take shape and evolve in bottle over the course of the next decade. (Best 2016-2026) - September, 2016 (JD)
