The 2013 Château d'Yquem is simply magical, and has reached the limits of perfection in this vintage. 2013 was a growing season that saw a great amount of rain in the spring, followed by a near perfect summer with cool weather in September. These conditions allowed the fruit to retain its freshness, while achieving optimal ripeness, resulting in the perfect balance of sweet and fresh, making this simply impossible to resist. As this opens, it instantly dazzles with incredible aromas consisting of fresh white flowers, honey, ginger and marzipan. On the palate this offers beautifully complex flavors of crème brûlée, bananas foster, vanilla cream, tangerine rind, and an impressive rich, concentrated mouthfeel leading to the exceedingly long, multidimensional finish. There looks to be serious aging potential in this truly great wine, which will be celebrated for years to come. (Best 2020-2050) - October, 2016 (OB)
