The 2016 Château Lalande de Gravet is an excellent showing in this vintage. It opens to lovely aromas of ripe blackberries and dark cherries which connect with spices, tobacco, toast and crushed stones that all develop in the glass. This medium-bodied red is beautifully polished, well-structured and balanced with lovely acidity keeping it fresh. It displays wonderful focus, with a core of dark fruits that are accented with tobacco and spices which expand on to the long finish. This is drinking excellent today, but should continue to age beautifully over the next few years.
