The 1989 vintage was an exceptional year for Château La Mission Haut Brion; particularly hot, sunny and dry providing ideal conditions for budding, flowering, veraison, maturity and harvest. The wine brings aromas of blackberry and cassis with loads of tobacco. Smoke, meat, mocha and espresso are layered with dark fruits which comes in waves of with all the other flavors. A very complex wine. Seamless balance of fruit, acidity. Drinking young with great tannins and structure. A truly amazing wine, still with lots of life ahead. A great Graves. - September, 2013 (JR)
