The 2011 Lapostolle Cabernet Sauvignon "Cuveé Alexandre" is sourced from an old block of Cabernet: planted in 1920 on the Apalta Vineyard which is is located at 170 Kilometers South West of Santiago in the Colchagua Valley. The Vineyard is situated on a North to South exposure, which is quite rare in Chile. This displays an impressive dark opaque color and inviting aromas of cassis, black cherries, mocha and wonderful fresh violets. It is remarkably rich and concentrated with lovely balance and a supple texture that carries over onto the finish. Composed of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon; 7% Cabernet Franc and 5% Syrah which was aged for 13 months in french oak. This is a stellar effort and an amazing value. (Best 2013-2019) - July, 2013 (JD)
