This excellent 2015 bottling from Bodega Catena Zapata displays an intense dark color and opens with aromas of black cherries, black olive, anise and cassis with hints of pipe tobacco. There are plush flavors of anise, cassis, red cherry and boysenberry preserves. Displaying a surprising red fruit profile on the mid-palate, this has wonderful texture with a lovely voluptous mouthfeel. Having the stuffing for some short term cellaring, this should continue to evolve over the next few years. (Best 2016-2024) - August, 2016 (OB)
