VILLA POGGIO SALVI Brunello di Montalcino 'Pomona' 2013

The 2013 'Pomona' is a refined and elegant Brunello di Montalcino. It opens to pretty aromatics of red cherries and red plums woven together with spices, licorice, floral and subtle hints of citrus zest all coming together in the glass. On the palate this is medium-bodied and beautifully structured around fine, silky tannins. It shows wonderful purity and a lovely balance of fruit and acidity. There is a wonderful austere character, along with a lovely fresh character keeping it vibrant through the long, silky finish. Overall, this is a simply gorgeous wine and a classic Brunello di Montalcino, which should age gracefully for many years to come. A sensational effort from Luca Belingardi.
