The 2015 Barchetta Sauvignon is sourced from the Zitelle vineyard in Friuli Colli Orientali Buttrio. The vineyard is situated at 120 meters above seal level and consists of mineral-rich Eocenic Marl (Ponca) soils. The combination of these characteristics are reflected beautifully in this expressive Sauvignon Blanc, which releases vivid aromatics of pineapple, kiwi, gooseberry, kaffir lime, wet stones and subtle herbal nuances all emerging from the glass. On the palate this beautifully textured and focused, with excellent tension and a wonderful combination of salinity and bright acidity keeping it vibrant through the the finish. This is an absolutely electric Sauvignon from Meroi, and while it is already impressive, I expect it will continue to evolve beautifully with additional bottle age.
