Amélie Aubert has taken command of the winemaking duties at Haut-Gravet, and her hard work and dedication to the property has generated some impressive results as the Château Haut-Gravet is a wonderful showing in a vintage. This blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon slowly begins to relese aromas of blackberries and cassis followed by tobacco, spices, spring floral and hints of licorice. This is beautifully structured and well balanced with a firm core resonating flavors of cherries, spices and licorice, which continue to work their way through the long finish. While this is a beautifully made wine, it will require at least another year or two of bottle age before it hits it begins to hit its stride. Nonetheless, I expect this to evolve gracefully over the course of the next decade. (Best 2019-2027) - October, 2017 (JD)
