The 2014 ‘Côte a Côte Estate’ Red Wine is a blend of 50% Grenache, 28% Mourvèdre and 22% Syrah, which was all sourced from the L’Aventure Vineyard. The wine was aged for 15 months in French oak (45% new) prior to bottling and begins with aromatics reminiscent of black tar, smoked meats, black tea and cassis. The weight and texture is lovely, as fruit weight impresses here, showing off layers of black cherries, black olive and allspice flavors that sit alongside a surprising amount of minerality.
