MASSICAN Sauvignon 2016

The Massican Sauvignon comes from vines in the Napa Valley, originally used for Mondavi Winery's Fume Blanc. Winemaker Dan Petroski started working with this Sauvignon Blanc in 2009, with the intent to use it as a blending varietal with Annia. Due to the Sauvignon's expressive character, the blend did not work out as planned as the Sauvignon dominated. As a result Dan decided to let the Sauvignon shine on its own. This decision has certainly paid off, as this is a gorgeous Sauvignon, which delivers vivid aromas of lime, asian pear, lychee, tropical fruit and white flowers. On the palate this is fresh and crisp, with excellent balance and depth of flavor, as it all comes together beautifully on the lovely bright finish. (Best 2017-2022) - July, 2017 (MD)
