The 2014 Santo Spirito Rosso is a flat-out spectacular effort from Marco de Grazia and may be the most compelling release from this cru since the outstanding 2008. As this elegant and complex Nerello Masclese begins to open it releases striking aromas of fresh strawberries, cherries and wild raspberries woven together with spring florals, wet stones along with smoke and hints of mint. On the palate this is beautifully structured with notable depth and fine, polished tannins making for a wonderful supple mouthfeel. It continues to impress with outstanding balance and finesse before an explosion of juicy red berries which lead into the long lingering, refined finish. Overall this is a magnificent effort which should continue to evolve gracefully in the cellar for years to come. (Best 2017-2030) - July, 2016 (JD)
